Beard restoration
Consider shape, distribution and donor compatibility.

Beard restoration involves placing suitable hair follicles into selected areas of facial hair. It may be considered for patchiness or a change in beard coverage after assessment.
Start with your preferred shape
Talk through the outline you have in mind: the cheeks, jawline, moustache or a smaller area. The clinician needs to consider the available donor hair and how its characteristics relate to the existing beard.
Set a realistic goal
Hair texture, curl and colour can influence how transferred hairs blend with surrounding facial hair. A plan should explain the intended distribution and the limits of what can be achieved. Photographs can support the discussion, but they do not replace an examination.
Prepare your questions
Ask about the proposed donor source, the stages of the procedure, possible complications and the instructions for washing and shaving afterwards. Follow-up should be part of the decision from the beginning.
